The SME Team recently participated in a workshop on “Innovation in SME Banking: Non-Financial Services for SMEs/ Best Practices in NFAS” organized by the State Bank of Pakistan, in collaboration with International Finance Corporation at the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF), Islamabad. Officials from International Finance Corporation (IFC), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) were present and covered a wide range of areas pertaining to Non-Financial Services (NFS) for SMEs. Muhammad Ali from Non Financial Advisory Services, SME Division informed the participants about the NFAS Suite at Bank Alfalah and what the learnings, challenges and benefits were in setting up and driving the initiative. Bank Alfalah was widely praised by the participants for being the first bank in Pakistan to launch such an initiative and hope was expressed that the bank would continue to lead the way for the industry.
